News - Fantastic Opening Offers at Madrid’s Most Luxurious Hotel

With a stunning and meticulous restoration that celebrates César Ritz’s pioneering spirit, a prestigious central location, five restaurants and bars overseen by one of Spain’s most celebrated chefs, and exceptional fitness and wellness facilities, MandarinOriental Ritz, Madrid is ready to welcome guests as the city’s most luxurious hotel. The hotel is located right in the golden cultural circle of Madrid, a block away from El Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museums, and with the Retiro park as a glorious backdrop. That will be from now on my home away from home when in Madrid !

Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid indeed faces the Paseo del Prado, the tree-lined boulevard punctuated by fountains that links the city’s major museums. The hotel is in the elegant Jerónimos neighbourhood, where many members of the Spanish aristocracy had sumptuous homes in the handsome late 19th-century buildings. The opening of the hotel in 1910 had a big influence on the architecture of the area, with Parisian features such as sensual curves softening the more austere traditional style. You may recognise the streets from Pedro Almodóvar’s film Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Mujeres al Borde de un Ataque de Nervios).

Renowned Parisian designers Gilles & Boissier, have created a sophisticated residential design for the 100 rooms and 53 suites, including several one-of-a-kind speciality suites, featuring unique design elements inspired by the hotel’s historic connections to the city, Spanish culture and art, such as the spacious Royal Suite and Presidential Suite with magnificent views over the Prado museum and, located in the top floor turrets, two new Mandarin Suites each with private balconies and views over the Prado Museum and Lealtad Square.

The Mandarin Oriental Madrid is setting also itself as a dining destination, with five restaurants and bars. Celebrated chef Quique Dacosta, of Michelin 3 Stars Denia in Alicante, supervises Deessa, the hotel’s signature restaurant, its first offering in the Spanish capital. Located in the beautiful Alfonso XIII room, overlooking the Ritz Garden, Dessa promises a unique gastronomic experience. Also a 10-person private dining room is available for intimate dinners and celebrations. A ‘Hidden Table’ offers guests the opportunity to meet the chef with a sommelier on hand to suggest wine pairings from the Hidden Table’s wines by the glass programme, featuring a selection of 250 European, primarily Spanish, wines. I'm sure I couldn't resist an afternoon tea under the glass ceiling of the Palm court, the stylish patio at the centre of the hotel, and fell for an aperitif at the Champagne Bar – with an ever-changing selection of the most exclusive champagnes paired with a signature tapas menu.

Finally, the hotel’s new fitness and wellness facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, a vitality pool, experience showers, a steam room and a contemporary fitness centre. A dedicated treatment room has been designed as a hidden sanctuary, providing a range of exclusive local and signature beauty and massage treatments. The notes of gold and white and the precious marbles are really stunning. Of course, massage, beauty treatments are available, but there is also a heated indoor swimming pool (28º), a vitality pool, experience showers and a steam room, and a brand new fully-equipped contemporary fitness centre with Technogym equipments.
